BIOGRAPHY
Ladda hem fotot här Anders Hagberg's instrumental profile is as a flutist and sopranosaxophonist. His background is in jazz and Afro-American music, but over the years He has been influenced by music from many other cultures.

He has performed with a multitude of groups and artists, and participated on a large number of recordings and productions for film scores He has also toured approximately twenty countries, including India, China, Japan, Canada, the United States and Argentina.

Anders set up his own group, Earthsongs, in 1995. They have made the CDs "Earthsongs" in 1998 and "The Herd" in 2001, which were both nominated for Grammies in the categorie of folk and world music. They have played concerts and toured extensively in the Nordic region, Canada and Poland. READ MORE In 2002 Earthsongs inaugurated the Göteborg International Science Festival. This performance resulted in Anders being commissioned to compose music for a number of documentary films including: - Mikrobernas Krig (The War against disease), which describes the photography work of Lennart Nilsson on the subject of micro-organisms. -"Stenristarna, "(Rock Carvers) a documentary series on Nordic history, published on CD in 2005, and broadcast on television throughout the Nordic region.

Since 1985 Anders Hagberg and Japanese double bass player Yasuhito Mori has performed as a duo, Winduo. They have made 5 CDs and toured both Europe and Japan. Winduo has also performed with others, including Japanese pianist Wong Wing Tsan, a number of Swedish and Indian percussionists, modern dance ensembles and with the Ginestera string quartet. Another person with whom Anders collaborates closely is Swedish organist Johannes Landgren. They have made one CD together: "Of Air" (2004). On this disc they explore and develop improvisations taking their point of departure in Gregorian chant, chorales, contemporary art music and their own original compositions. "Of Air" is an encounter between two different improvisation traditions.

For over a decade Anders Hagberg worked as part of the group Mynta with some of the most prominent musicians from India, including legendary percussionist Vikku Vinayakram, known from John McLaughlin's group Shakti. Mynta toured extensively in Europe, India, China, Argentina and the USA. In the music they have developed, the classic Indian raga encounters both jazz and folk music.

He has also been - together with musicians Pierre Dörge, Marilyn Mazur and John Tchicai - a part of the Danish-American group New Jungle Orchestra for a few years and toured Europe and recorded with them.

Among the many various other projects that Anders has participated in, a long term relationship with Faroese composer Kristian Blak´s group Yggdrasil should be mentioned. His contributions to folksinger Gunnel Mauritzon Group and his work with the Gothenburg Opera and the Backa Theater is also worth to acknowledge.

During the 80s he was touring and recording with rocksinger Björn Afzelius.

Anders is also teaching at the Gothenburg University, Academy of Music and Drama in improvisation. He has been doing a lot of workshops and seminars in all Scandinavia as well as Argentina & China.

Anders Hagberg has been the recipient of grants from among others, the Swedish Arts Grants Committee, The Swedish Performing Rights Society (STIM) and the municipality of Göteborg.
